In Bangladesh, we have over 100,000 schools where less than 5% schools have libraries. Students don’t have access to reading materials other than their text books.

As a result, 30% of the students can properly read or write Bengali after they complete Grade 5. This seriously hampers their further education and career. Story books inspire children, bring their imagination and improve their creativity – the skills that our children will need in future. There are 3 crore children in our primary schools and almost half of them never had the opportunity to read a story book. Just imagine how sad it is.

So, we decided to change the story. We’ve been setting up libraries in all parts of Bangladesh, spreading happiness through the power of books.
